UPDATE: Body of man found floating identified

UPDATE– The identity of the body found in Chain Lake near St. Ignace yesterday has been identified.

Investigators aren’t releasing the man’s name until next of kin is notified.

The body was taken to Grand Rapids for an autopsy and the preliminary results of the autopsy indicate the following:

-The body is of a man approximately 30 – 40 years old

– Brown/dark brown hair

– 5 foot, 9 inches tall

– Approximately 150 -160 pounds

– 32 inch waist

-No tattoos

-No obvious signs of trauma were found.

Fingerprints were difficult to obtain but one usable print was able to identify the man.

Deputies have received several tips and are continuing to track down those leads.

MACKINAC COUNTY– A man’s body was found floating in Chain Lake near St. Ignace.

The Mackinac County Sheriff’s Office received a call around 3 this afternoon.

According to a press release, the man is believed to be in his 30s or 40s with brown hair.

The man’s body was found by kayakers. 

Investigators say the body appears to have been in the water for several days.
