UPDATE– Escanaba Public Safety, in conjunction with the FBI, have reason to believe a 42-year-old Milwaukee, Wisconsin man may be linked to the attempted armed robbery of the Northern United Federal Credit Union on July 5, 2019.
Escanaba Public Safety was notified on Monday, 07/15/2019, of another armed robbery of a bank in Lake Hallie (Chippewa County) Wisconsin. The suspect, a 42-year-old male from Milwaukee, was arrested after leading authorities on a brief chase. The suspect was driving a black GMC Acadia at the time of the robbery and his arrest.
Investigation conducted by the Wisconsin authorities, FBI, and Escanaba Public Safety, have reason to believe the suspect and vehicle in the Lake Hallie robbery are connected to the attempted robbery in Escanaba.
Nothing further will be released at this time as the investigation continues.
Local 3 News has reached out to the Marinette County, WI Sheriff’s Office asking if they still believe that is the same man in connection to the July 8 armed robbery at a bank in Pembine, WI. They responded saying that they are interested in the connection in this case and certain items of evidence line of to the case in Pembine.
Investigators from the Escanaba Public Safety Department, Marinette County Sheriff Department, Delta County Sheriff Department, Michigan State Police, and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), held a joint meeting today, Tuesday, July 9, to discuss the similarities of the armed robbery in Pembine Wisconsin and the attempted armed robbery of the Northern United Federal Credit Union in Escanaba.
Investigators have determined the two incidents are related by comparisons of the vehicle used and the suspect’s profile. Investigators compared the apparent similarities, along with additional information not yet publically available, to draw this conclusion. A joint effort with information sharing has been coordinated in an attempt to identify the suspect, and/or the suspect vehicle, utilizing the combined resources of all agencies involved.
The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office says a masked man armed with a gun robbed a bank in Pembine about 1:20 p.m. Monday.
The subject is believed to be armed and dangerous.
The man is described as Caucasian, 6’2″ to 6’5″ with a thin to medium build. He was wearing light blue jeans, brown/tan colored shoes, a dark colored sweatshirt or jacket, dark gloves and his head was covered with a full-faced mask.
The suspect’s vehicle is described as a dark colored mid-to-late model 4-door, mid-size SUV with , silver colored 5 spoke wheels. It may be a GMC Acadia.

The vehicle in this incident appears to be almost identical to one police in Escanaba are looking for in regard to two incidents Friday, one of which was an attempted armed robbery.
Escanaba Department of Public Safety says a masked man with a gun attempted to rob the United Federal Credit Union in Escanaba Friday at approximately 5:53 p.m.
Police say the doors had been secured for close of lobby business, but an employee was still inside at the time of the incident.
The suspect in that incident is described as a male, approximately 6’2” tall, 230 to 250 pounds, wearing jeans, black coat, black hat/mask, and carrying a handgun.
The suspect vehicle is an older model dark blue or black GMC Acadia, with a sun roof. There appears to be distinctive damage to the vehicle’s hood.

The vehicle and occupant were also involved in an incident in Escanaba just before 6 p.m. Friday near Lincoln and Ludington. This vehicle has a sunroof, has no license plate on the front bumper, and police believe it is a dark blue or black older model GMC Acadia.
