As of 9:08 p.m., northbound and southbound US-41 is reduced to one lane south of Chassell at the Sturgeon River Bridge in Houghton County due to a traffic crash.
One lane of traffic in alternating directions will be maintained with a temporary signal. The lane closure and signal are expected to be in place until cleanup is completed.
A mid-morning accident in Houghton County’s Chassell Township killed one person Saturday.
The accident involving three vehicles and a tanker truck hauling fuel happened along US-41 at the Sturgeon River Bridge.
Department of Environmental Quality and US Coast Guard Station Portage were dispatched to the incident to evaluate the impact of a fuel spill.
The names of those involved in the incident have not been released.

Northbound and southbound US-41 is closed south of Chassell at the Sturgeon River Bridge in Houghton County due to a traffic crash.
Southbound traffic is being detoured on the Pelkie-Tapiola Road to M-38. Northbound traffic is being detoured along M-38 to the Pelkie-Tapiola Road or M-26.
Truck traffic is advised to use M-38 and M-26.
