The Wells Sports Complex has been renamed the Hannahville Ice and Turf Complex after the Hannahville Indian Community paid to make major upgrades to the facility.

A news conference was held this afternoon in the new turf room where the “second” ice sheet was once operated. It had been shut down for several years before the local softball, soccer, and baseball community formed a committee to look for ways to re-use that part of the complex.

Hannahville’s Chief Financial Officer, Scott Herioux, told the Radio Results Network, the tribe is proud to be a part of the community and likes to help provide more opportunities for area youth. The new facility is more than 20-thousand square feet, with batting cages for baseball and softball, and a ten-foot wide track.

The facility is now being rented on an hourly basis by numerous teams in the area. The Northern Lights YMCA is in charge of coordinating the scheduling and payment for the facility.
