Whitmer’s first U.P visit as governor

MARQUETTE– Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is in the U.P. for the first time since she was inaugurated. 

Whitmer is in Marquette tonight for the UP 200. She stopped at other various places throughout the day including a ‘Business Roundtable.’ with U.P. businesses.

“We’re just making sure that we’ve got an open dialogue about issues are imparting businesses here in the U.P.,” said Whitmer. “Whether that is the shortage of skilled workers the lack of paths into skills. We’re just making sure that our infastructure works from broadband to the roads.”

Michigan Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist, will join Whitmer tomorrow as she continues her U.P. stop with her “Whitmer Winter Warm-up” tour. The two will be at the U.P. Children’s Museum from noon until 2 p.m.
