MARQUETTE COUNTY – The Marquette County Emergency Management Office, along with Marquette County Central Dispatch, is encouraging residents of Marquette County to sign up for Smart 911.
The system allows people to complete their own family safety profile that is used if – and when – they call 911.
“Residents can also opt in the system to receive alerts regarding severe weather and is free,” said Gary Johnson, Central Dispatch Manager.
Teresa Schwalbach, Marquette County Emergency Management Coordinator, said, “This alerting system will be used to alert residents of issues during the upcoming storm.”
For example, Schwalbach said the Smart 911 program could let users know when and where shelters will be located when a long-term power outage is happening.
To sign up and opt into receiving alerts, go to www.smart911.com or download the Smart911 app.
