Marquette, MI – This weekend’s 43rd Annual Bark River Off-Road Rumble in the U.P. racing event featured championship drivers from across the U.S. and parts of Canada.
It also featured a handful of local racers who took the track at Bark River International Raceway with something to prove.
A lot of the U.P. natives grew up watching the races they are now participating in and finding great success.
Jamie Kleikamp, a Bark River native, entered the weekend leading the Lucas Oil points race in the super stock truck class.
“It feels good to be on top. We’ve been struggling all year, chasing some problems. We think we’re starting to get some things figured out. It feels great coming from a small town in the countryside that, I guess, we live in around here. There’s a few more of us locals here. It feels good to compete with some of these other guys from across the country that are very competitive and represent our town and the upper part of our state, I guess.”
A few other local drivers who found success this weekend. Bark River’s Cody and Kyle Kleiman both had first place finishes in the Pro Lite class and Bark River’s Chad Horde, who had a good outing in the Pro 2 class.
