Three Huskies earn player of the week honors

Michigan Tech’s Ryan Sweeney has been named the WCHA Defensive Player of the Week. The senior had a pair of goals in the Huskies series sweep of Bemidji State over the weekend. He was also named the Winter Carnival MVP for the Huskies, who once again, are ranked 5th in the country in the latest USCHO poll.

On the hardwood, Ben Stelzer is the GLIAC North Player of the Week for the fourth time this season. The senior averaged over 26 points per game in three games this week. Stelzer scored a career high 37 points against Northern Michigan and made nine three pointers! On Saturday, he made five three’s against Grand Valley State and set the Huskies all-time record with 338 career three’s.

On the women’s side, Jillian Ritchie is the GLIAC North Player of the Week. Ritchie averaged 14 points per game in three wins helping the Huskies extend their win streak to 11 games.
