HOUGHTON, MI – Michigan Tech Athletics recently promoted Chris Roy to Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations and hired Brad Isaacson as the Event Operations Manager/Athletic Equipment Supervisor. The changes came after the retirement of Dave Nordstrom.
Roy had served as the Facilities and Special Events Manager for the Student Development Complex since 2001. Prior to returning to his alma mater, Roy spent six years as the Ewigleben Ice Arena/Sports Complex manager at Ferris State University. He is a 1986 graduate of Michigan Tech, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration.
Isaacson is a 2011 graduate of Tech and began his duties on July 1. The native of Mohawk, Michigan, returns to Tech after serving as a Student Equipment Manager during his undergrad. He also worked at South Dakota State University as a Football Equipment Manager and Auburn University for two years as an Equipment Manager working with the football, soccer, and track and field programs. For the past four years, Isaacson has been employed at Mohawk Technology.
“Brad brings a wealth of knowledge to our equipment operation and event operations,” Assistant Vice President and Athletic Director Suzanne Sanregret said. “We’re happy to welcome him back to the Michigan Tech family.”
“It feels great to be back at the SDC every day,” Isaacson said. “I’m excited to be back working with our quality student-athletes and experienced staff.”
Nordstrom retired at the end of June after 34 years at Michigan Tech. He was the Associate Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations since 2011 after being the SDC Building Manager for 15 years. He was originally hired in 1984 as the Assistant Manager of the then-four-year-old SDC.
